| Neutral Milk Hotel - SF '98
DVD April 12, 1998 Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco, CA. One of the most popular Neutral Milk Hotel live recordings. MP3s of this show are prevalent online and several clips are on YouTube. This DVD features the entire 90 minute video from that night. The quality is very good, in regards to both sound and picture, though there's a brief pause between tracks. Also on the DVD is the bonus feature Where You'll Find Me Now, a short documentary highlighting some Louisiana areas of interest to hardcore NMH fans. DVD $7 suggested donation item #: NMH_SF (If you'd like to also purchase another item on this page, please list the item # in the "Optional Note" area and update the price accordingly. Thanks!) |

Neutral Milk Hotel - When It All Caved In live rarities & final show (CD) The holy grail of Neutral Milk Hotel bootlegs? I had heard about a fabled
performance by Jeff Mangum in New Zealand in 2001 where he took a brief respite
from reclusion for one night to once again perform NMH songs.. his only show in
the past several years. Fans can only hope Jeff decides to return to performing
one day, but as it stands, the New Zealand show is regarded as the final Neutral
Milk Hotel performance. Audio CD $5 suggested donation item #: NMH_NZ (If you'd like to also purchase another item on this page, please list the item # in the "Optional Note" area and update the price accordingly. Thanks!) |

| Jefferson Mangum WFMU radio shows Jeff Mangum had a weekly radio show in the wee hours for a few months in late 2002 at WFMU, a freeform independent radio station broadcasting at 91.1 fm in the New York City area, at 90.1 fm in the Hudson Valley, and live on the web at WFMU.org. Archives of the programs are available in streaming RealAudio here. The shows are filled with recordings that are, at various times, interesting or enjoyable, if not challenging to the average listener. Jeff (or Jefferson, as he's credited on the station's site) played at least a couple original sound collages, though most of what he played was authentic world music, avant garde jazz, field recordings of nature, obscure musical oddities, and other eccentric stuff that you'll definitely need an open mind to appreciate. Each show is basically like a 3 hour sound collage, with Jeff popping in about once an hour to let people know what they're listening to. I took the time and effort to convert these radio shows to mp3 format and
burn them to cdr. The streaming RealAudio was captured to wav, divided into
segments (usually where Jeff comes in), and encoded to 160kbps MP3s using
EAC (LAME 3.93). I would have encoded higher, but 160k worked best resulting
in three shows fitting snuggly on a disc, for a total of 3 discs for the 9
shows (27+ hours of music).. plus a couple little bonus surprises. Data CDs (set of 3 mp3 discs) $15 suggested donation item #: WFMU_SET (If you'd like to also purchase another item on this page, please list the item # in the "Optional Note" area and update the price accordingly. Thanks!) |
