THE INSTRUMENTS
Somewhat of a solo project from Heather McIntosh (cellist for Japancakes and Circulatory System), the Instruments released an album titled Billions of Phonographs in 2002. It's been described as a beautiful and brilliant record of entrancing folk melodies and orchestration. Contributors to the album include Jeff Mangum (vocal harmonies), Will Hart (drums and vocal harmonies), Julian Koster (singing saw), and Laura Carter (clarinet, accordion, vocals), to name a few.
