NeutralMilkHotel.org - The Carrot Flower Kingdom |
Adding another fundraising item to the site.
Neutral Milk Hotel in the Electric Lounge is a DVD featuring a great
performance by the band at said venue in Austin, Texas on April 4, 1998. The
show is roughly 44 minutes long. The quality isn't perfect, but it's pretty good
relative to what other NMH live videos are currently out there.
As a bonus, the same DVD also includes Jeff Mangum's acoustic performance at Chris
Bilheimer's birthday party in Athens, Georgia on December 5, 1998. The show is
good quality (again, not perfect), about 30 minutes long, and features the rare song "Little Birds"
in the set. And Scott Spillane plays trumpet on some songs.

Here're some comments I've gotten regarding the DVD so far:
"Thanks for the NMH dvd. Very good to finally see a whole show. I was a bit disappointed at the random guy behind the camera singing to some of the songs. That was a little annoying. But on the whole, the dvd is amazing." - Jonathan
"I got the DVD today - It's brilliant, thanks a lot! Just to let you know that it works fine on my English computer - I didn't have to change the region code or anything. haven't tried it on a proper DVD player though." - George in the UK
"audio quality was good for both shows, I'd say very good for an audience cam. band performance was good for both shows (although scott's pretty sloppy in
the first one. but that's not necessarily a complaint). two things about the video quality. compared to my experience with other audience video recordings (mostly REM), this one's pretty rough. the lighting isn't great, the tape appears to be a few generations old so the colors and details are washed out, the frame is sometimes unsteady. that being said, it's still some of the most compelling concert footage I've ever seen. for those of us who missed these guys live, it's a must see." - Matt"The video on the Austin show is GREAT. I love the lo-fi grainy analog video feel. It makes the effect of Jeff's vocals and stage presence even more haunting and beautiful." - Brian
